NASHVILLE, TN. - On Friday March 16th, 2012 a group of Nashville area wrestling promotions will be joining forces to produce a once in a lifetime historic event as a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that helps honor and empowers wounded warriors. Over 40,000 members of our nation's armed forces have been physically wounded in Iraq and Afganistan. Studies estimate more than 300.000 will suffer the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury.
Wounded Warrior Project began when several veterans and friends, moved by stories of the first wounded service members returning home from the current conflicts, took action to help others in need. What started as a program to provide comfort items to wounded service members has grown into a complete rehabilitative effort to assist warriors as they recover and transition back to life.
And to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded warriors in our nation's history and to raise awarness and enlist the public's aid for the needs of injured service members; to help injured servicemen and women aid and assist each other; and to provide unique direct programs and services to meet their needs. We will be honored by several Wounded Warriors that will be in attendance.
