Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling returned to West Caldwell High School in Gamewell (a suburb of Lenoir, NC) on Saturday March 26th. The organization's last show at the school was on January 16, 2010. The estimated paid attendance topped
475, an improvement from 2010's event.
1. In a match to determine the vacant NWA MACW Jr. Heavyweight title, Chase Owens pinned Sigmon in a long match, countering a German suplex with a roll-up. Promoter Rikki Nelson had stripped "himself" of the junior title after capturing the MACW Heavyweight Championship on a February show in Cheraw, SC.
Following the pinfall, "The Feature Presentation" Jeff Lewis hit the ring and challenged Owens to defend his newly-won championship immediately. Which led to....
2. Owens pinned Lewis to retain the NWA MACW Jr. Heavyweight Title. Lewis worked over Owens' already "injured" shoulder. In a well-executed finish, Lewis curtsied over a prone Owens, who reached up and snagged Lewis in a small-package for the pin.
3. Rick Steiner pinned Donnie Dollar$ after a modified powerslam (which looked more like a botched back bodydrop).
Autograph signers on the show included "The Total Package" Lex Luger and "The Russian Nightmare" Nikita Koloff. Luger's hip is really bothering him, as he had difficulty climbing up steps.
4. Brad Armstrong (1/2 of NWA MACW Tag Team Champions) pinned Chris Hamrick with his feet on the ropes. Hamrick had tried the illegal pinfall firstly and was caught by referee Shane Huff.
5. With the NWA MACW Heavyweight Title on the line, Nelson (c) retained his belt with a highly controversial "reversed" decision over the former champion Buff Bagwell. Bagwell scored the pinfall to apparently win the title when Nelson slipped a leg over the bottom strand of the ringropes. Referee Huff was about to restart the match when the guest ring announcer from local radio station KICKS 103.3
inadvertently announced Nelson the winner of the match (?!?). Bagwell stormed off in a huff until Nelson was able to prod him back for at least a challenge rematch down the road.
