Years ago when professional wrestling came on television the whole family would sit down to watch it. In those days you had Mid-South wrestling in the Louisiana area, CWA in Memphis, the NWA on the Southern East Coast, WWWF on the Northern East Coast, the AWA in the Midwest and World Class in Texas. These were promotions that had people that were larger than life and millions of people watched and loved it.
The professional wrestlers were trained and put on a an entertaining show for the people buying the tickets because they didn't get paid unless they put people in the seats. These were people that were in this business and this was their job. They wrestled every night of the week. They missed birthdays, holidays, school functions to make a living to feed their wives and children. This was not a hobby to them and they took pride in their craft.
Now fast forward a few years until present day.
You now can go to any town and see some guy in that town claiming to be the "Worlds'" heavyweight champ. This is the same guy that has never been trained, worked out in a gym, doesn't know a lock up from a lock down in prison and works at the 7/11.
These are also the same people that are training people and taking some poor guys money with hopes and dreams of becoming the next WWE superstar. Not knowing that the guy in the ring with him couldn't even buy a ticket to a WWE show.
If you are going to get in the professional wrestling business find someone that actually knows how to work, has done something in this business, knows people so he or she can get you booked after training and knows how to train people.
Take pride in your appearance, get in shape and look like you belong in the ring. If you want people to pay money to see you, which in these times money is tight, make sure you can give them a show worth paying for.
Just think if it was your money. Did you put on a show that you would pay for?
Until Next Time
