BREAKING NEWS!Luna Vachon dead at the age of 48

(January 12th,1962-August 27th,2010)


It is with our deepest condolences that we report
that former WWE Superstar Luna Vachon has passed away aged 48.
Vachon had also wrestled for WCW and ECW.

Wrestling Promoter and friend David Herro confirmed Vachon's death on his twitter:
"With a broken heart I am crushed 2 tell u that one of the most amazing people I have ever known has died.
God Bless Luna Vachon.
I love u
".


According to family,
she was at her mother's house and was found dead this morning.

The news comes just a short while after a house fire consumed her home
and destroyed her wrestling memorabilia.
She was staying at her mother's house after the fire.

Gertrude Vachon--
"Trudy" to friends--
was one of the most colorful and eccentric woman wrestlers of all time.

She is the daughter of Paul "The Butcher" Vachon
and the niece of "Mad Dog" Vachon and Vivian Vachon.
Her unofficial godfather was André the Giant.
Gertrude herself is a mentor for fellow Canadian wrestler Nattie Neidhart.






















She also sang back-up vocals for a band
known as Nasty Savage.

Luna Vachon She became a born again Christian in 2004,
after attending an Athletes International Ministry conference.
She was baptized not long after by fellow wrestler Nikita Koloff
along with her then-husband David Heath.
One of her fondest memories about the wrestling business was being able to visit children as part of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

On June 9th 2007,
Luna became the first
Great Lakes Championship Wrestling's Ladies Champion
defeating then-TNA Knockout Traci Brooks.


















On December 5th,2007,
Luna Vachon announced her retirement;
her last match took place on December 7th
for Great Lakes Championship Wrestling
in Milwaukee,WI.
She successfully defended her GLCW Ladies Championship
against Traci Brooks and then retired as champion.






















Her house burned down in August of 2010,
and she had lost many of her wrestling-related memorabilia.
