
ANGELO POFFO
April 10th, 1925 - March 4th, 2010
Wrestling legend Angelo Poffo,
the father of "Macho Man" Randy Savage and "Leaping" Lanny Poffo
a.k.a. "The Genius",
died this morning at age 84.
A message on Lanny Poffo's official website reads,
"It is with heavy heart we announce the loss of wrestling legend Angelo Poffo who passed away peacefully in his sleep this morning age 84."

John Angelo Poffo was a former professional wrestler and wrestling promoter of Italian origin.
He ran International Championship Wrestling for a number of years,
holding cards in Tennessee,Kentucky and Arkansas.
In 1945,Poffo set and held the world sit-ups record,
his total being 6,033 in one sitting in 4 hours and 10 minutes;
holding that world record for several years.
Poffo started wrestling in 1948.
He sometimes wrestled as "The Masked Miser".
From 1956 into the early 1960's,
Angelo Poffo was managed by Bronco Lubich.
The two of them sometimes worked as a team.
He formed a heel tag team with Chris Markoff,
called "The Devil's Duo"
whom were managed by Bobby Heenan.
and "The Graduates" in 1973 with Ken Dillenger,
managed by Mark Manson.
Poffo also formed a tag team with WWE Hall Of Famer Nikolai Volkoff.
Poffo wrestled in the 70's and 80's under a mask as "The Carpet Bagger" for Emile Dupre's legendary "Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling" in the Maritime Provinces of Canada.
He wrestled under a yellow mask with a dollar sign on the forehead and a blue sequined ring jacket with a big dollar sign on the back.
During his time in the Maritimes,his two sons, Randy "Macho Man" Savage and "Leaping" Lanny Poffo, were also major stars for Dupre's promotion.

Poffo is survived by his wife of over 60 years Judy
and his two sons.
