Hey everyone! I know its been a while since my last column. I think its time to write another one. Todays subject I want to write about is all the drama in local wrestling. You can't go into any locker room and say the names Derrick King or Dustin Starr without getting all kinds of stories about these guys. Personally, I never had a problem with either, but I know plenty that have. There's so many feuds out there between guys with big egos. In my opinion, Derrick and Dustin are very good workers, and have made a name for themselves everywhere they go. I mean, you have to be good to do a couple of shows for WWE. But with that said, I do understand how people can dislike Dustin for his blogs and all the criticism towards workers, promotions, etc. which I don't disagree with the things he has said. As for Derrick, its like in baseball where you hear what they say about Manny Ramirez. Its just Manny being Manny. Well its the same in wrestling; Derrick being Derrick.
Theres a couple more people I'd like to talk about. Tony Watts and all the stuff that went down at the last XOW show; Tony called me the day after and told me he had nothing to do with what had transpired at the show which was backed up by Syn who also attended. He apologized for all the heat between me and him and I told him all was forgiven and forgotten. We spoke for about 30 mins more until he made the allegation that IWA paid Danny B. Goode to hurt Mickey Ray and XOW, which is a load of crap and stupid to even say!!! I want to tell you a story about Danny B...
I went to my first ever independent wrestling show in Memphis, TN. Danny B. wrestled that night and after the show I went to the back and waited for the wrestlers. I met some really nice people such as Tomko, R Truth, William Regal and a couple others. I got to meet Danny B. also. We spoke for about 5 mins. I told him about my dreams in the wrestling world and he was very encouraging and uplifting. I had a lot of respect for Danny for taking the time to speak with a fan and take interest in to what I had to say. For the time I've been in the wrestling business, I heard some "not so nice" things about Danny B., but I never really paid them any mind. I just thought it was all talk until I got that phone call from Syn, the night of the XOW show. He told me what all had happened. Now in wrestling for me, there friends and family and Mickey Ray falls into the family category. I was in shock at Danny's actions. In a way, I just wanted it to be a big work, which did cross my mind because it was Tony Watt's show. About that time also, I got a call from Mickey Ray telling me he was alright just banged up. I asked him what had happened. He said Danny just freaked out. He cut a R rated promo and basically took his anger and frustrations out on Mickey instead of Tony.
Bottom line; all the respect I had for Danny B. is gone. I'm sure he don't care, but all the kids that attended the show that night looked up to Danny B and supported him. Theres no telling what kind of damage he done to his own career.
The whole point of this column is you're going to hear a lot of stories about a lot of wrestlers, but its really up to you to make your own mind about these guys. Whether its good stories or bad stories, people are going to hate and be jealous but always listen and be cautious because the stories can be true.
