From Mike Sempervive:
From the WRC website in Washington. As everyone knows, a true friend of pro wrestling for years not only on his own newscasts ("Wednesday Wrestling") but also nationally for the Sports Machine where he covered things like the Crockett Cup '87 and WrestleMania and did features on Ric Flair (probably the first place an national audience saw a picture of fatter 70s AWA-era Flair), Hulk Hogan, etc. No one probably knows it's his hand on the cover of PWI after WrestleMania 4 where Savage and Hogan are doing an interview.
George Michael, the longtime NBC4 sports anchor known nationally for his syndicated sports highlights show “The George Michael Sports Machine,” passed away early Thursday morning at Sibley Hospital.
Michael was 70 years old.
Known for his boisterous, energetic storytelling and sense of humor, Michael served as sports director for WRC-TV, NBC’s D.C. affiliate, for 27 years. Started as a local program in the early ‘80s, “The Sports Machine” was syndicated in 1984.

When I lived in DC this guy covered the wrestling results and highlights in his program (along with other mainstream sports). A class act who made a difference in many lives
